IEH Laboratories, a Leader in Food Safety, is now accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at its facility in Seattle, WA.
This position works as part of the special projects and/or consulting teams at IEH, which perform a variety of projects in food science and food microbiology. Upon receiving training, the Postdoctoral Research Scientist is expected to help with bench work, proposal/report writing, data analysis, general laboratory works, and any other related tasks assigned as per day-to-day and project needs. This position also includes travelling projects, which involves visiting client sites (spending multiple days on-site if needed), taking environmental samples, sample shipping to the labs, on-site validation studies, on-site inoculation work, performing on-site observations of manufacturing and processing practices, data analysis, report writing, consulting, and any other task assigned by the consulting team leadership.
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
– A PhD degree in Food Microbiology, Food Science, or related field (required)
– At least 5 years of experience as postdoctoral fellow (required); experience in Molecular Biology and Immunochemistry (preferred)
– Passion for food microbiology and food science and willingness to do their best to help our clients on their requested projects
– Strong written and verbal communication skills
– Be highly motivated and proactive, and have a strong attention to detail
– Strong understanding of aseptic technique in the laboratory
The pay range for this position is $85,000 – $110,000 annually (DOE). This is a full-time position eligible for the following benefits after a brief waiting period: medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability insurance, 401(k), health and dependent care FSA plans, employee assistance program, 15 days of paid time off per year for sick leave and/or vacation, 3 days paid bereavement leave, and 6 paid holidays per year.
Occasional work on weekends, extended hours, and or presence in the lab outside of the normal schedule are sometimes required. This position may require occasional travel assignments, as per the projects’ needs.
