Nautilus Environmental, in San Diego, CA is currently seeking a Part-Time Laboratory Assistant to join our San Diego team of aquatic toxicologists. Nautilus is a consulting laboratory focused on the analysis, integration, interpretation, validation, and application of high-quality toxicity data. Our mission is to provide trusted, comprehensive ecotoxicity testing services that empower our partners to make informed and data-driven environmental decisions.

Ideal candidates will possess the following:

• A high school diploma or GED (required)
• Previous experience in a lab setting desired
• Must have ability to follow directions, work in a team setting, and have strong attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• A valid US driver’s license and a driving record (at least three years of driving experience) that meets/continues to meet motor vehicle risk standards, as verified through ongoing MVR monitoring.

As a key member of the laboratory team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

• Providing support for bioassay testing, and assisting technicians with whole effluent toxicity (WET) and sediment testing activities
• Cleaning and maintaining glassware for lab operations
• Preparing glassware and other materials for use in testing
• Assisting with general lab maintenance and cleaning
• Assisting with animal care and maintenance
• Preparing and shipping sampling kits to clients
• Frequently using microscope for analysis of embryo development
• Using company vehicle for seawater collection and sample courier

The pay range for this position is $17.25 – $19.00 hourly. The shift for this position is part-time (20-25 hours/week), with a flexible schedule (operating hours are Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8am – 5pm). This position eligible for the following benefits: paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours annually) and 401(k). Part-time employees may be eligible for medical insurance after 6 months if working more than 30 hours/week on average during an initial 5-month measurement period.
