DonLevy Laboratories, part of the IEH Laboratories and Consulting Group, is now accepting applications for a Part-Time Laboratory Courier position at its facility in Crown Point, IN.
DonLevy Laboratories is an independent, commercial food testing laboratory dedicated to food safety and committed to providing solutions for quality challenges throughout the supply chain. We perform microbiological and chemistry analyses on environmental, raw material, and finished product samples submitted by food companies industry-wide.
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
• A high school diploma or GED (required)
• Prior courier/dispatching experience (preferred)
• Working knowledge of Google Maps
• Ability to regularly lift up to 30lbs above waist level
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs above waist level
• A detail-oriented and organized approach, strong communication in handling all tasks, and sound judgment in day-to-day interactions
• Ability to work independently
• A valid US driver’s license issued at least 5 years prior to the date of hire, with a clean driving record (including, at minimum, no at-fault accidents in the last 5 years) that meets/continues to meet IEH’s motor vehicle risk standards, as verified through ongoing MVR monitoring
Laboratory Courier duties include safely transporting samples from customers to the lab on a fixed schedule, cleaning and maintaining coolers for sample transport, inventory control, routine vehicle maintenance, data entry (documenting daily route information, including details of samples picked up and supplies delivered, vehicle mileage, and fuel receipts) and other duties as assigned.
The schedule for this part-time position is Monday – Friday, and every other Saturday, with a start time between 6:00am and 9:00am. The laboratory operates 24/7, so candidates must be willing to work some holidays. Routes will range in length (including anywhere from 5 – 11hrs in length) and candidates must be willing to drive throughout the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana area, as well as into parts of Michigan/Wisconsin, and may include driving in a variety of weather conditions.
