Field Microbiology Laboratory Supervisor

Technical and scientific laboratory research position with microbiology testing laboratory. Must have working experience in food microbiology, veterinary microbiology, and molecular biology, including laboratory and field studies to collect, isolate, enumerate, identify and quantify foodborne pathogenic and spoilage organisms and their toxins including E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella, Bacillus sp., Clostridia sp., Listeria, Staphylococcus, Lactobacillus, Hafnia and Pseudomonas; fungi and viruses. Position involves traveling to set up microbiology labs in different parts of the country. Should be able to set up laboratories and laboratory equipment, train lab technicians, conduct experiments, analyze data, issue reports and report findings. The successful candidate must have Master’s Degree in Science with significant coursework in the area of Food/Animal Science, plus at least 2 years experience in an ISO 17025 laboratory environment; be fluent in molecular and classical microbiology laboratory methods such as ELISA, PCR, chromatography, anaerobic isolation; and be proficient in application of Statistical Process Control methodologies to microbial data. Desire knowledge and skills in rapid detection techniques for a broad spectrum of foodborne and zoonotic pathogens; infectious diseases, physiology, disease pathogenesis; knowledge of host-pathogen interactions (experience in animal models of microbial pathogenesis, animal surgery, necropsy techniques and tissue analysis). Laboratory Scientist – Food Microbiology

Laboratory research, development, and service position in the area of food microbiology. Have working experience in food industry including laboratory and field studies to collect, isolate, enumerate, identify and quantify foodborne pathogenic and spoilage microorganisms and their toxins including E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella, Bacillus sp., Clostridia sp., Listeria, Staphylococcus, Lactobacillus, Hafnia and Pseudomonas. Will  work in a microbiological lab administering routine laboratory operations, facilitate day-to-day microbiology lab activities including media prep, participate in field studies, analyze and interpret microbiological data, and perform trend analysis.  The successful candidate must have M.S. in Food Microbiology or Food Science with 2-3 years experience in fresh produce microbiology; be fluent in molecular and classical microbiology laboratory methods such as ELISA, PCR, chromatography, anaerobic isolation; and be proficient in application of Statistical Process Control methodologies to microbial data.
